I’m Kathryn Hanson. I am 16 yrs old and I was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. The Wednesday of June 9th, 2020 is a date I will never forget. Aplastic Anemia is a disease where your bone marrow shuts down and doesn’t produce red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Ever since I was diagnosed, I’ve had weekly blood and platelet transfusions to help my body still do it’s job while waiting for the Big Game. As we have got this far, I am now on my way to be admitted to Lurie Children’s Hospital on September 24th to start chemotherapy. After that, I will have a round of total body radiation, and then the very next day after that I will have my bone marrow transplant. There aren’t exact numbers or days or months of how long this will all take to cure the Aplastic Anemia. This is why I would love each and everyone of you to be with me through the journey. I designed this shirt with my journey in mind. This whole year
(from diagnosis to cure) will take tons of courage, incredible strength, and a whole lot of fight to get me through to the end. I chose red and white because those are the colors that symbolize Aplastic Anemia. The Red ribbon symbolizes blood cancers/diseases and the white ribbon symbolizes bone cancer/diseases....put the two together and the two tone ribbon stands for Aplastic Anemia. This fundraiser is for support and kindness that I’d love through this rough patch. Thank you all for being there and putting the thought in. It isn't going to be an easy journey, but one I want to share. I appreciate everyone involved. Thank you-Kathryn Hanson
From a Goat: I met Kate when she was in 6th grade. We were both the "new kids"- only she was the student and I was the teacher! Her spirit and energy were, and still are, infectious. When I heard about this little hiccup that Kate was going through I wanted to help, as many of us do. All proceeds from the sale of the #K8STRONG gear will go to Kate and her family to help cover the cost of their needs during the coming days. Every item you order will not only help them out financially, but I'm sure will help Kate to see how loved and supported she is.
Each item is made to order. There are two delivery options; free local drop-off/pick-up or shipping through USPS for $6. I will work to get orders fulfilled as quickly as they come in, but you can expect local deliveries to take about two weeks and shipped items to ship within two weeks of placing your order.
